Bird Feeders : Ruby-throated Hummingbird

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is one type of hummingbird that mostly breeds in eastern North America. It breeds in deciduous and mixed forests. Its physical characteristics include extremely short legs that prevent it from walking or hopping and wings that beat 53 times a second.
If you want to attract Ruby-throated Hummingbirds to your feeder, the good news is these birds are easily attracted to feeders. The male Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in particular show aggressive territoriality toward rival birds and quickly become familiar to human presence. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds do not really show strong preference for any color or feeder but more on the specific location of the feeder. For instance, feeders hung at windows where they can perch tend to attract them more.
You can easily make a hummingbird feeder at home. Just fill it with hummingbird food solution, which is one part white sugar and four parts water boiled for five minutes. Once the solution has cooled, you can feed it to the birds. Just remember to not add any artificial sweetener or preservative. Clean the feeder time and again with water to remove bacteria. You can also attract more Ruby-throated Hummingbirds by planting a lot of bright and tubular flowers like honeysuckle, bleeding heart, and cardinal flower.
