Bird Feeders : Rose-breasted Grosbeak

The Rose-breasted Grosbeak is a large finch. Its physical characteristics include a black head, bright red breast, white rum, sides and belly, black wings, and long black tail. It breeds mostly in places like North Dakota, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Georgia, and South and Central America. It prefers to dwell in moist woodlands near open fields and orchards.
The diet of the Rose-breasted Grosbeak mostly consists of seeds, caterpillars, insects, berries, fruits, and flowers. When it comes to insects, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks love to eat crop damaging pests like bugs, beetles, and locusts. One type of feeder good for the Rose-breasted Grosbeak is a large hopper feeder that can accommodate birds of many species. The hopper feeder should be mounted to a deck rail or the usual pole of tree. A good material for hopper feeders or other type of feeders is premium red cedar wood because the material can stand the test of time.
Make sure the Grosbeak is hinged at the roof peak for easy filling. An extended seed platform and hopper end seed ports will also be beneficial because it provides more space should it be necessary. Ideal dimensions of the total feeder would be a 24 length, 11 width, and 8 height.
