Bird Feeders : Catbird
Catbirds are usually found in suburban areas, yards, and gardens. They like to look for areas with lots of bushes and shrubs that can protect them from predators and which give them lots of food supply like berries to eat. Catbirds are noisy birds that can mimic other bird calls and the sounds of swing sets and wheelbarrows. They got their name from their ability to produce very distinctive catlike sound.
The diet of the Catbirds consist mostly of insects such as bugs, grasshoppers, ants, caterpillars, crickets, moths, aphids, beetles, cicadas, and spiders. While they mainly eat insects, catbirds also love fruits such as blueberries, berries of sweet gum, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, cherries, figs and seeds of grasses.
Setting up a bird feeder for catbirds can be advantageous because catbirds tend to attack fruits ripening in one’s backyard. Having a feeder specially made for them will divert their attention away from the fruit-bearing plants in your garden. There are a lot of bird feeders that can be used as catbird feeders, such as a platform bird feeder perfect for peanuts, currants, bread, grapes or raisins. You can also set up a fruit feeder and put slices or pieces of fresh fruit in it.
